When I got up this morning I couldn’t stand it any longer. I scrubbed the bathroom and vacuumed. It felt good. And then the reward of market day! Off I go!
There are more people in the streets on market day. It might be everyone.
You can find anything you want. Today there was even a van selling mattresses! I couldn’t find the fresh pasta guy though. Maybe on Saturday.
There’s seafood and cheese

And sewing machines
Soap, jam, mustard
This is where I bought my jar of soup

And baskets, etc. etc.

Olives

That’s paella I think. There was a Chinese food stall too.

That’s a boars head – poor guy.

I’m going to eat one of those black things on Saturday. I’ll let you know.

Something special for the ladies

And something for les petits

In the afternoon I went for a short guided walk. The guide was well written but not well read. After an hour of trying to figure out where I was, I finally found the birthplace of Alfred de Vigny (from the statue) – his birthday is March 27 if you want to send a card – and I found the old courthouse. That was a lot of walking for very little reward.

and some ducks.

Even with all the shopping today, I went the entire day without baguettes or croissants. Unfortunately I made up for it with chocolate. How do the French stay so slim?!
I hope your day is as wonderful as mine. Love to you all.
Be happy. 🙂

Hi Great pics. They remind me of Beacon Avenue in the summer. What is the black thing you said you were going to try?

Market days in French villages are so fun. We always want to buy everything! But usually end up with a tiny sac – a little cheese, a few olives, maybe some jambon persille – that seems so pitiful given the array of products and choices! Did you see the ‘bra stand’? Who tries on bras at the market?? I have bought some really cute leather shoes at past markets – still have them! How’s your French doing??
