Clause Monet lived in Giverny, about 80 km. northwest of Paris, for 43 years. He was a painter and an avid gardener. This is where he planted his water garden and where he painted his water lilies.
Here are some photos of his gardens.

Not only can you tour his gardens, you can tour his house. They say they have kept it the same as when he lived there as far as decor and colours go. It’s a big house and his bedroom has a wonderful view.

There are paintings throughout the house by many artists. Cezanne, Renoir, lots of Japanese artists . Some were his friends and some were artists whose work he liked.

His dining table seated twelve. He must have enjoyed entertaining because he only had two children.

I didn’t get a picture of the outside of his house. There were too many people. The river cruises have excursions here and there must have been three of them walking through at once.
Giverny is a nice, little town. It’s a long way from anything else. Monet was buried there, along with other members of his family. And of course he had a street named after him.

We found a cat! And I had a macaron from a street vendor. Bonus!

This is in Normandy. There is one grave in the cemetery of seven airmen who fell from the sky and were buried together. Look at the view on the other side of the war memorial. What beautiful country. You can see why an artist would want to live there.
Lots of steps today.
Love to you all.

Ok. we can live there. DH.
