Getting Moved In

Last night was the first full night’s sleep I’ve had since I left home, and it felt amazing. Today I spent my time getting settled and acquiring the necessities of life here. Apparently things I can’t get along without are: tea, dish cloth and soap, fruit and vegetables and a house plant for the window sill. Oh, and cheese and baguettes. And of course chocolate and wine. Everything seems so reasonably priced!

My apartment is in a building that used to be a flour mill. It sits over the Indre River so I expect they used to use the water to run the mill. Here’s a photo of the back of the building taken from a sunning area. You can see the water churning out from the far side of the building.

Here’s a picture of the front of the building. The area by the colourful chairs is the reception.

Just ignore the bars on the windows. They let us come and go as we please.

I was fortunate to arrive the day before Market Day here in Loches, so I had wonderful shopping opportunities to get everything and anything I needed. Next Wednesday is also Market Day. Stay tuned for lots of photos!

Here’s my apartment:Family photos are above the tv and my Adventures in my Trusty Boots calendar is to the right. This month’s photo is the eulachon run.

Notice there are two beds so if anyone comes to visit there’s room! Warning, the beds are very firm.

Also, the bathroom sink is nice and big – suitable for hand washing. Though there is a laundry room with one washer and dryer in the neighbouring building.

You can see that the pool isn’t quite open yet. They say April.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow is Sunday. Do you think I should go to church?

Love to you all.
